OUR HISTORY

1998 – Alumni Homecoming of Bangaan National High School

Way back in 1998 during the Alumni Homecoming of Bangaan National High School in Bangaan, Sagada, Mt. Province, the idea of forming a BNHS Alumni Cooperative was introduced by Mr. Zaldy B. Baybay. However, the idea was not taken positively by the majority of alumni. Again in year 2002, during the next BNHS Alumni Homecoming, the same idea was brought out since there were already group of alumni who were willing to volunteer themselves to start within the alumni organization.

The Alumni president then was Mr. John T. Bomowey and the cooperative idea mover was Mr. Zaldy B. Baybay. Again, it was not taken seriously by the organization officers, so Mr. Zaldy B. Baybay, with the other alumni members who were willing to start that time, pushed with the initial meet ups and started the ball rolling. The group of alumni members who were meeting up at that time were the following,

1. Mary Doyog Conin-e
2. Geraldine Kawi Toyoken
3. Clementina Baguiwet Doga-ong
4. Joan Ola-o Tomeg
5. Grael Bolido Bomowey

6. Lally Ann Sagayo Baniaga
7. Zaldy Bawayan Baybay
8. Felicito Gomowad Kibatay Jr.
9. Maxin Lomiwes Bonguid
10. Junifer Lebgan Padayao

With the group’s mutual quest in really forming a cooperative, they were later on joined by other alumni members who were willing to volunteer themselves to form a cooperative:

1. Grael Sagayo Alicda
2. Shirley Toyoken Lonogan
3. Ruth Toyoken Balloyan
4. Wriglene Sagayo Andawi

5. Cherr Sagayo Umaming
6. Mike Gabriel Balicaw Botigan
7. Shellan Kibatay Addag

The organization was named Bangaan National High School Alumni Cooperative, with meeting place at the old Parish Hall at Bangaan, Sagada, Mt. Province.

Despite all the criticisms heard from the groups at the corner grounds of Bangaan every after meeting, the group went on with all the positive thoughts in mind that their mission will eventually show. Initial transactions were done, membership fees, savings collection within the group expanded to schools and other alumni individuals who were willing to save then later on started borrowing to whoever is in need among the group. Pilot areas for savings were all Elementary Schools in Northern Sagada.

The organization operated independently from the Alumni Association to separate the books of accounts and receipts.

Officers were decided by the initial group, the prime mover was Mr. Zaldy B. Baybay, record keeper was Ms. Joan O. Tomeg assisted by Ms. Grael S. Alicda; treasurer was Ms. Grael B. Bomowey assisted by Ms. Wriglene S. Andawi.

The setup and transactions went on until the other members of the group joined in 2005 where the idea of registering the organization as cooperative to make it formal was brought out. The first formal general assembly, as a requirement for registration, was done in March 19, 2005 at Bangaan National High School. Official office declared by then was at Baybay’s residence, Bangaan, Sagada, Mt. Province. Logistics initially used for operations were personal properties. Computer set owned by Mr. Zaldy B. Baybay, printer owned by Ms. Shellan K. Addag, all were donated for use during the first years of operations. Acting bookkeeper from 2003 to 2009 was Ms. Shellan K. Addag and Mr. Zaldy B. Baybay was temporarily designated to supervise the overall operations until the cooperative will be able to appoint a full time manager.

After complying all with the set of requirements for registration, Mr. Albert D. Docallas, the Provincial Cooperative Development Supervisor-Mountain Province, finally endorsed the registration as primary cooperative with the name Treasure Link Cooperative Society. Certificate of Registration was issued by CDA-CAR in April 10, 2006 bearing Registration No. CE01322. We recognize April 10, 2006 as the birth mark of Treasure Link Cooperative Society.
