WOMEN’S MONTH

“WE MAKE CHANGE WORK FOR WOMEN”

#ChooseToChallenge

In pursuant to Presidential Proclamation Nos. 224 and 227 and Republic Act No. 6949, every month of March marks the celebration of National Women’s Month as part of the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day (IWD). While every day is women’s day, this particular month is marked in celebrating social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women from all walks of life.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) is, We Make Change Work for Women, “Choose to Challenge”. It focusses on choosing to challenge and call out gender imparity.

A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions-all day, every day. We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can help create an inclusive world.

From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge, “excerpts from the IWD official website.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples. “- Mother Teresa

Consistent with Proclamation No. 227 s. 1988, this year’s annual conduct of the National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) aims to pose both challenges and opportunities for women during COVID-19 pandemic. The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) shall also honor women frontlines, workers, entrepreneurs, home makers, community volunteers, and other #Super Juana’s during this health crisis. It also aims to empower Juana’s through access to government information, and shall tackle the unpaid care work, or the services that women provide in their homes and in communities, from preparing food, to taking care of children, the ill, and the elderly. These activities will serve as a platform to discuss women’s experiences in dealing with the pandemic, and provide practical information and ways forward to help them. This event is open to public via PCW’s Facebook page and is free and no need to pre-register.
